Where Should You Place Your Bed In Your Bedroom? Read On For My Best Advice

When decorating your bedroom, the layout is one of the most important aspects to consider. The placement of the bed in a bedroom can have a big impact on the overall feel and functionality of the space. So it is important to get it right!

Here are a few things you should consider when deciding where to place your bed:

⭐Privacy: The bed where possible, should be placed in a location that provides privacy away from the door. If you can, hang the bedroom door so that it opens on to the room instead of on to the wall, this is a good way of adding privacy to your bedroom and if people are walking past your bedroom they cannot see straight in! If possible, keep your bed away from noisy areas such as a street or a busy hallway for a peaceful and quiet nights sleep.
.
⭐️Focal point: Your bed is a great way to create a focal point in the room and should be placed somewhere that is easily visible (and central if possible) when entering the room. This will create somewhere for the eye to focus and balance the space. Dressing your bed with linens and cushions etc can help set the tone for your bedroom that you are trying to curate, so make the most of dressing your bed to create impact, and to add texture and colour. The headboard or bedframe you choose will help set your bed as a focal point, so carefully consider whether you opt for a statement piece or something beautifully understated to go with the rest of your decor! ⭐Natural light: Natural light is so important for our mood as it helps release happy hormones! With this being said, place your bed in a somewhere that will maximise the natural light, ie don't block off any windows by putting your bed in front of them. You want to create a bright and airy feel in your bedroom that will also allow for better sleep. If your room isn't natural very bright opt for light coloured linens for your bedding and for your window treatments to maximise the light as much as possible!
.
⭐Flow and decor: Choose a location in your bedroom that allows for easy flow, access and movement within the room to create a sense of spaciousness and functionality. You also want to consider your overall decor and styling to compliment your bed position for a cohesive, balanced and harmonious feel!
.
⭐Storage: This point slightly echos my previous one, however try to place your bed in a location that allows for easy access to storage and make sure you can still open your wardrobe doors. This will make it easy to put away clothes, shoes and other items and keep the room tidy. If you are short on space it could be worth considering sliding doors for wardrobes, and perhaps an ottoman or divan style bed for maximum storage options!

Ultimately, the best place to put your bed isn't going to be the same for everyone. It will depend on your personal preferences, the layout and size of the room, and the available natural light. But keep these points in mind to work out the best location for you!
