3 Tips On Maximising Natural Light In Your Home

When we get sunlight our bodies create something called serotonin (a happy hormone) or vitamin D. Low serotonin levels can make us feel tired and lethargic, and vitamin D deficiency is also known to cause other problems such as fatigue. Sunlight is known for boosting your mood so it is important for us to get as much as possible into our homes!
Here are three of my top tips for maximising natural light within your home!

Okay so I know it sounds pretty simple but this can sometimes be overlooked! Clean your windows, you will honestly be shocked by how much of a difference this will make!
Give the inside and outside a good clean (or hire a window cleaner) and let me know how much brighter your home feels!

Using mirrors to reflect natural light around a room is a great way to make a space feel brighter and also bigger. Hang a mirror in a place where the light will naturally hit and bounce off.
Try hanging more than one or use other reflective surfaces such as glazed tiles to really maximise the amount of light being bounced around!

Use light colour window dressings such as whites, creams, or even sheer curtains for privacy, however do bare in mind that they won’t necessarily block out the light!
Lighter curtains also lend to a much softer look!
